Teenagers Show Us What Freedom is All About
BPI 24/7 Banking recently concluded the Expect More Freedom Video Contest wherein a number of entries gave original and refreshing answers to the question: “What will you do if you had more free time?” The Awarding Ceremony, held last August 20 at the Main Dining Room of the BPI Head Office, showcased the best of these entries. Awards were given out by BPI President Aurelio Montinola III, Senior Vice President and Head of the Overseas Banking and Channel Services Group Teresita Tan, Senior Vice President and Head of the Consumer Banking Group Natividad Alejo, and Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer Marie Josephine Ocampo. The grand prize winner received a plaque and a brand new Sony VAIO laptop.
The winning video entry entitled Teenage Freedom, Thanks to BPI Express Online! was submitted by college students Paulo Reyes and John James Sampan. Teenage Freedom tells “the story of a boy who experiences freedom from chores thanks to BPI Express Online.” Various scenes show the titular teenager clicking a pen to no end, carving his name on a block of cheese, harmonizing with the dial tone, and dressing-up as a Jedi Knight as a result of having the convenience to pay bills online instead of lining-up at the bank. One of the video's funniest moments is a scene where the teenager's household helper, more popularly known as Inday Smith, is giving a monologue on the benefits of banking via BPI Express Online. Senior Vice President Jojo Ocampo said it best when she noted in her closing remarks that this video as well as the other entries serve as testimonies that even in its 158th year, the bank continues to be "young and vibrant, and passionate in its commitment to its clients".
